Elon Service Trips

Service is a large aspect of Elon University’s campus. It is even one of the five Experiential Learning Requirements (ELR) and can be completed by logging hours in local organizations or by going on a service trip during fake break, fall break, spring break or summer.

This is a great way to travel and meet new people on Elon’s campus while also gaining service opportunity in different countries such as Jamaica, Honduras, Morocco, and in the U.S. in Bay St. Louis.

The deadline for fake break and spring break alternative service trips are due next Friday, Nov. 5. Check out this Pendulum article to hear more about service trips or you can stop by the Kernodle center to speak with a representative. Road Trip: Chicago, Ill.

When picking places to go and visit in the United States for your next road trip, you should definitely consider the one and only windy city, Chicago, Ill. Between several attractions and sites around the city and the great scenery to be found, Chicago is definitely worth visiting at least once.

1. Go to a Notre Dame football game! This school is the definition of school spirit and the games are fun for everyone!

2. Check out the crowd at a Notre Dame football game.

3. Visit the John Hancock building and climb to the top floor to get a full view of the city.

4. The bean is a popular site around Chicago. With all of the curves and the reflection, this is a great place to take a photo.

5. Take a stroll through Millennium Park and enjoy the variety of artwork displayed throughout the park.

6. Right after Millennium Park, walk down to the Buckingham Fountain to see the beautiful water.

7. Next, you can stroll along the board walk and visit the Navy Pier, which has Chicago history, shops and rides.

8. Be sure to take a ride on the Ferris Wheel to see a great view of the city at the top.
